Why a 1200 GSM microfiber cloth for your bike
GSM — grams per square metre — is how microfiber density is measured, and it's the number that actually matters. A standard 300–400 GSM cloth is thin and drags grit across your paint; at 1200 GSM you get a thick, plush pile that holds far more water per pass and lifts fine road dust into the fibres instead of across your tank. That's the difference between a clean finish and a fresh set of swirl marks.
Our cloth uses a twisted-loop, dual-sided build in an 80/20 polyester–polyamide blend: a plush aqua loop side for soaking up water fast, and a denser grey side for a streak-free final buff. It's safe on paint, chrome, glass, plastic and your visor — made for quick post-wash drying and for getting the monsoon and mountain grime off after a long ride.

How to use it on your motorcycle

  • Let the engine and exhaust cool for 15–20 minutes before you go near them.
  • Always work on a rinsed surface so you're not dragging grit across the paint.
  • Pat to soak up water rather than rubbing hard.
  • Dry with the aqua side, then flip to the grey side for a final buff.
  • Machine or hand wash below 60°C. No bleach, no fabric softener. Dry in shade or tumble dry low - never iron.

Which GSM microfiber cloth is best for a bike?

1200 GSM twisted-loop is ideal for drying and detailing — high absorption and scratch-safe on paint and chrome. Lighter 300–400 GSM cloths suit quick wipe-downs, but they hold less water and wear out faster.

Does a microfiber cloth scratch bike or car paint?

Not when it's a soft, high-GSM twisted-loop cloth used on a rinsed surface. The loops trap dust and grit inside the pile instead of dragging it across the paint, which is what causes swirl marks with cheap cloths.

Can I use this cloth on my Royal Enfield tank?

Yes. It's safe on paint, chrome, plastic and glass, so tanks, fairings and visors are all fine. Just let the engine cool first before cleaning anywhere near it.

What is twisted-loop microfiber?

Twisted-loop is a weave where the fibres are twisted into longer loops, giving the cloth more surface area and higher water absorption than a flat weave — which is why it dries a wet bike or car in fewer passes.

How do I wash and care for a microfiber cloth?
