Om Maṇi Padme Hūṃ. Six syllables that ripple across every prayer flag from Leh to Khardung La. This enamel mug carries the Tibetan Lung Ta (wind horse) prayer flags across its face — the same colours you chase on every Himalayan ride, now wrapped around your morning chai.

Steel core, stainless steel rim, built to take a beating in the pannier. It won't shatter like the mug on your kitchen shelf, and it looks a lot better at 4,000 metres.

Why riders keep one in the pannier

  • Hot or cold, every season — 4am chai at the dhaba, cold nimbu paani at the pass.
  • Takes knocks that finish glass and ceramic — dents before it ever shatters.
  • Food-safe, non-reactive coating — no metallic aftertaste, no funny business.
  • Packs light for treks, hikes and camp — or for pretending the WFH desk is 4,000m up.

Care & handling

  • Hand wash only — mild soap, soft sponge. Give the dishwasher a miss.
  • No abrasive scrubbers — steel wool and scratchy pads will mark the print.
  • Campfire & stove-friendly — heat it on the trail, just mind the handle, it gets hot.
  • Not microwave-safe — there's a steel core in here, and metal in a microwave is a bad time.
  • Handle with care — the print is a premium coating built for daily use, but a hard drop can chip it. Look after it and it'll ride with you for years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these enamel mugs a good gift for riders and trekkers?

They're one of the easiest gifts to get right for anyone who rides or treks. Practical enough that they'll actually use it, light and unbreakable enough to live in a pannier or rucksack, and there's a design for every kind of rider. Pair it with a few destination stickers or adventure stickers for a complete rider's kit.

Will the printed design chip or fade over time?

The design is a premium printed coating, not a peel-off sticker — it's sealed for everyday use and won't wash off with normal cleaning. Like all printed enamelware it can chip if the mug takes a hard drop, and abrasive scrubbers wear the print down over time, so hand wash it with a soft sponge and it'll hold its colours for years.

Can I use it for both chai and coffee, hot and cold?

Anything you'd put in a mug. It's food-safe and non-reactive, so hot masala chai, filter coffee, soup at camp or cold nimbu paani all taste like they should — no metallic edge. Just keep it out of the microwave; the steel core doesn't belong in there.

Is it tough enough to survive a bike trip?

That's exactly what it's built for. Enamel-coated steel takes the knocks that shatter glass and ceramic — it'll dent long before it breaks. At 300ml it's light and packs easily into a saddlebag or rucksack, so it rides as hard as you do.

How do I care for my mug?

Hand wash with mild soap and a soft sponge — skip the dishwasher and abrasive pads to protect the print. Safe on a campfire or stove (the handle gets hot, so use a cloth), but never in the microwave. Planning the route it's made for? Start with our Manali to Leh guide.
